I was debating on 3.5 or 4 stars on this one.
I didn't feel a real connection with Bowen and Mari like I did with the two previous books' characters. It took a while for me to even care if they got together or not.
Then when a witch gets captured by rebels, and is imprisoned in a cave, why would she not use magic to do something about it? I'm trying not to take the series too seriously because they are a fun, guilty pleasure, but I also see rational ways to handle situations and get frustrated. I guess that wouldn't make for a very suspenseful story huh? The twist at the end is why this was rated a 4.
